First doctoral thesis defended!

We are extremely proud to announce that the first PhD student studying at the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences of the Jagiellonian University (Biomedical Sciences PhD Study programme) defended his doctoral thesis!

On Friday, at 12:30 Mr. Fatih Celal Alçiçek presented his thesis entitled: "Insight into the links between sex- and age-related mechanical and biochemical alterations of erythrocytes and their ATP profile in ApoE/LDLR double-deficient mice model", written under the supervision of the promoter - Mrs. dr hab. Katarzyna Marzec, prof. AGH.

After a self-report, presentation of experts' reviews and answering a number of questions, the Commission started a deliberation session behind closed doors, ​during which a resolution was adopted to request the Biological Sciences Discipline Council to confer a doctoral degree on Mr. Fatih Celal Alçiçek.

After the verdict was announced, the Chairwoman of the Commission, dr hab. Patrycja Kaczara read a congratulatory letter from the School Director - dr hab. Roman Skibiński, prof. UJ, in which he expressed his appreciation to, among others, for the excellent scientific results achieved by Mr. Fatih.

Mr. Fatih is the author of several publications (of which he is the first author of three), actively participated in many conferences and independently conducted research as the PI, he is also a co-author of a patent. Mr Fatih conducted his research at the Jagiellonian Centre for Experimental Therapeutics (JCET).
