Saravanan Sengottuvel

I am Saravanan Sengottuvel, PhD student at the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences in the Department of Photonics. My primary research interests are in the field of light-matter interactions and quantum sensing. For my research work, I study the Nitrogen-Vacancy centers embedded in diamond crystals to locally detect and measure several physical quantities such as temperature, pressure, magnetic and electric fields. Using these tiny quantum sensors, I try to develop novel nanoscale sensing applications for Physics and Biology. I received my bachelor’s degree in India where I was born and my master’s degree in Germany. In my leisure time I go for biking, birdwatching or play badminton.
