Short biogram:
Janusz Jurek received the PhD degree in computer science from the AGH University of Science and Technology, Cracow, Poland, in 1998. From 1995-1996 he was a research associate at Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, Hamburg, Germany. From 1998-1999 he was an associate professor at University of Illinois at Chicago. He became a professor at Department of Information Technology Systems, Jagiellonian University in Cracow, in 2016. His main research interests include pattern recognition and artificial intelligence. He has authored 2 books and coauthored more than 40 papers (in such prestigious journals as Pattern Recognition, Pattern Recognition Letters, Pattern Analysis and Applications or Fundamenta Informaticae).
