Pursuant to § 7 sections 1 and 3 of Resolution No. 68/IX/2020 of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University of 30 September 2020 on: the rules of recruitment for the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences at the Jagiellonian University in the academic year 2020/2021, the Director of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences announces a competition for 1 doctoral student/s with a scholarship financed from the research project (“Implementation PhD”) funds as part of the PhD study programme Biology.
The project manager, dr hab. Anna Ptak, prof. UJ offers an opportunity to complete the doctorates in the following area: Selected strategies targeted therapies for cancers with a mutation in the SMARCA4 gene.

After the interviews and the evaluation of the candidates, the Chairman of the committee presents a report to the Director containing a list of candidates recommended for admission to the school as part of the research project.

Canditate's profile:
- Master's degree, graduation with honors from second-cycle studies in biology is required.
- Minimum two years of experience in a company from the biotechnology sector.
- Extensive knowledge of targeted therapies based on the model of synthetic lethality, in particular in cancers carrying a mutation in the SMARCA4 gene, obtained during the implementation of projects in a company from the biotechnology sector.
- Documented scientific achievements: scientific publications published in the last 4 years in journals on the list of journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and active participation in scientific conferences.
- Documented participation in training in the analysis of Real Time PCR test results, using Excel at an advanced level, and managing oneself in time and organization of work.
- Experience in working with chemical compounds of a chimera nature focused on proteolysis.
- Experience in designing and conducting in vitro experiments in 2D and 3D cell culture models using small molecule cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors.
- Experience in developing a screening cascade using high-throughput methods in a biotechnology company.
- Theoretical and technical knowledge of laboratory methods: Electrophoresis, Western blot, CETSA, ELISA, Alphalisa, FRET, qPCR, flow cytometry, cell culture, creation of isogenic and reporter lines, 2D and 3D cell viability tests, cellular apoptosis tests, biochemical determination tests the potential of molecules to form a complex with E3 ligase, methods of cell engineering (transfection, CRISPR / Cas9, lentiviruses), analytical methods determining the penetration of compounds into cells.
- Proficiency in analyzing biological data with the use of specialized programs such as GraphPad Prism and databases such as DepMap or cBioPortal.
- Self-proposing and developing new research methods for the analysis of chemical compounds.
- Knowledge of the English language at the minimum B2 level.
