Biology (Biological Sciences)

The curriculum in "Biology" prepares for obtaining a PhD in the discipline of biological sciences. More information about the programme can  be found here.

The subject of doctoral theses concerns research in the field of:

  • Botany: plant cytology, plant ecology, classical and experimental embryology, phytogeography, phytosociology, in vitro cultures of plant tissues and organs, lichenology, mycology, paleobotany, plant taxonomy. 
  • Environmental biology: ecosystem research, biodiversity, evolutionary ecology, ecotoxicology, natural resources management. 
  • Developmental biology: anthropology, cell and tissue biology, development and reproduction biology, endocrinology, faunistic, genetics and speciation processes, neurobiology and immunology, hormonally dependent cancers, xenoestrogens and reproductive disorders.

Numerous optional seminars, lectures and courses are offered in these subjects.

The PhD programme in Biology provides an opportunity to achieve learning outcomes in the area of knowledge, skills and social competencies defined for level 8 of the PQF.
